The Scar Heal Kit minimizes your risk for developing a scar after any surgical procedure. We recommend starting as soon as your stitches are removed and your wound is completely closed. The Scar Heal Kit is simple system that maximizes results.
Scar Heal Kits For Scar Treatment
Here at Rejuvaskin, we’ve designed specialty kits that contain everything a patient needs, and they should start applying the products soon after the wound has closed. Patients wondering how to heal breast surgery scars will find that our scar heal kits come in a variety of shapes and sizes一 this way, the silicone sheet fits the scar site perfectly. Let’s take a look at what comes in the scar heal kit:
Silicone Sheeting
Based on the shape of the incision, a patient may need one of our five options: breast anchor shape, breast lollipop shape, breast circle shape, breast piece shape, or the small rectangular shape. The silicone sheeting is designed for at-night wear; they simply need to clean the skin on and around their incision, pat dry, and apply the silicone sheets.
Silicone Scar Gel
Each breast scar treatment kit comes with a tube of our Rejuvasil scar gel. Patients may be surprised by how small the bottle is一 a little bit goes a long way! They should use this 97% silicone scar gel during the day, allowing it to dry completely before dressing. Rejuvasil is discreet and easy to apply, providing effortless, all-day protection.
Hypoallergenic Medical Tape
Although patients often don’t need it, we include a roll of our hypoallergenic medical tape in each scar heal kit. If they find that the silicone sheet isn’t sticking to their skin well, they can first try washing it gently according to the package’s directions, washing their skin and drying it completely. If the silicone sheet still doesn’t stick to the incision properly, they can use medical tape to hold it in place.
When Should I Start Using Silicone Sheets For Scars?
If you’re wondering when to start using silicone scar sheets, always start by talking to your doctor about any treatment that involves a recently healed wound. Our recommendation is that you start using silicone products as soon as your wound closes. This will not only allow plenty of time for the skin to come together, but will also allow you to intervene with scar-healing products at a critical moment in the restructuring of the scar tissue.
How Do I Clean My Scar Fx Sheeting?
You should only clean your Scar FX sheeting with un-concentrated soaps and warm (not hot) water. Gently massage the soap into both sides of the sheet, making sure to loosen any dirt or hair that has collected on the sheet. With warm water, rinse away all of the debris. It’s important to use soap because this is what will remove any naturally-produced oils that have collected on the silicone sheet.
To dry your silicone sheet, let it air-dry. If you dry it with a towel or paper towel, you run the risk of transferring some tiny particles that will make the silicone sheet stick to your skin improperly.
How Long Do Silicone Sheets For Scars Last?
While the natural tackiness of the adhesive is designed to last for about a month, many patients find that they can still use our silicone sheeting even after that time period. As long as you take care of your sheet and clean it properly, the adhesive should last you long enough to heal your scar. And if you still need to use your silicone sheeting even after the tackiness has faded, you can still use the sheeting with the medical tape we included in each Scar Heal Kit.
Why Won’t My Scar Fx Sheeting Stick?
If this is your first time trying to apply your Scar FX sheet, you may have missed the thin protective layer that sits on top of the adhesive layer. There is a thin layer of plastic on each side of your silicone sheet.
If you’ve been using your sheet for a few weeks and the tackiness is starting to wear off, this is normal. With regular use (and proper cleaning), the adhesive will last you at least a month, but it will fade sooner or later. If you have an older sheet that won’t stick, simply apply the included tape to the edges of the silicone sheet, and you’re good to go!
Can I Use Silicone Scar Sheeting With Other Products?
If you apply a product under the silicone sheeting, you’ll have trouble with the sheet sticking properly. In order to get the best scar recovery, we recommend that you use the Scar FX silicone sheet at night and our Rejuvasil topical silicone during the day. After you’ve seen the maximum results from your Scar Heal Kit combination, Scar Esthetique is a great product to use to help reduce any lingering discoloration.
